I’ve been having this problem for months now. Whenever there is a quiet moment during a movie or video game or something, my TV’s audio (Vizio D series) cuts out, by which I mean that the background noise cuts out abruptly when there is a pause between conversation. Not a significant problem per se, but it’s very annoying. I’ve tried various audio setting combinations but to no avail. 99% of the time, I use my PS4, but it does it through the cable box as well.
Is this a good question?

Hi @caedus25 ,
Just double checking that you tried Volume Leveling option ON or OFF to listen if this altered the volume problem?

Also is there an option to Delete Audio Mode in case a custom audio setting has been created that may be the cause of the problem?
Can you try a different type of input to check if the problem is still there. Assuming that perhaps you are using HDMI for both your input sources that is
Hi @jayeff,
I'm not sure what the volume leveling option is. As far as audio options for the TV, it has Surround Sound, Balance, Lip Sync, Digital Audio Out (PCM and Bitstream), Analog Audio Out (Fixed or Variable), and Equalizer. My PS4 has Audio options for Linear PCM, Bitstream Dolby and Bistream DTS. I've tried switching these up to see if it would help but to no avail.
As far as custom settings, I've reset the TV to factory default settings but still experience the issue. With the input options, I only have access to HDMI, though I have an older E series Vizio that doesn't go through this issue.
Your sound problem is possibly eco friendly related ? my speakers cut out at low volume, very annoying, was told it is this eco management on devices in which if there is low or no sound, it cuts out, to be in line with laws concerning power saving etc. Eco Save the Planet ETC. like a TV doesn't receive a signal it will turn off after a certain time, that makes sense. but when I'm listening to my classical music relaxing at a low 3-4 setting, off it goes. Got no satisfaction when I returned my Harman/Kardon speaker set. !
I have a similiar problem. My OS is Windows 7 home premium 64bit using a ACER laptop
using conexant smartaudioHD. When my CPU goes up to a certain point (varies) the sound(speaker) just stops working without giving any error, but when if I disable/enable the sound will come back until about a few seconds when it cuts off again, over and over. If I use a headphone this problem wont occur, but I easely get irritated by the headphone as its annoying to have on. I really have'nt used by speaker in a long time and I really want this problem fixed, another way to fix this is to go right click my volume controller and go to playback options and press [Playback][Recording][Sound] either of these and it returns, meaning I can just constantly switch-click btw these buttons or plug in-out my headset/mic. But the more I do this, the less the interval for the speaker sound to cut off, so if I do this alot of times, in the end the interval for the sound to crash off is like 3 seconds pft. Either way I have tried re-installing my sound driver and installed new ones all up to date. I'll keep looking every 2 hours looking for answers here ty for the help in advance.
I just got a new laptop last month, an Asus A6-3420M 1.4GHz, 4GB RAM, 750GB HDD, Radeon HD 6520, LED, HDMI, Webcam, Window 7 Premium. Posted by
When I plug the HDMI into the TV like I did with my old computer, the sound cuts out a lot! At random times, not set points. I have to go to the computer every time to fix this. So when I open up the 'Sound' menu on my computer, it says that my HDMI connection is no longer connected, even though it is. I can only make the sound come back when I re-plug in the HDMI cord again. This sucks, and it doesn't always work, either. Please help! I don't know what to do! I want to watch movies n' stuff!

Like I mentioned in the title whoever solves this problem gets a free key for a surprise steam game. Here's the problem; for some reason today my audio has been constantly cutting out every 10-15 minutes and I don't know what to do. It just started today, I don't know why it's happening and the only way to make it start again is unplug the speakers/headset. It can't be a problem with my headphones since I've had the same problem with my speakers. Any help is appreciated, thank you brothers.
